The other day I made a social post letting people know that I was selling most of my high end coffee equipment. It caused a bit more of a stir than I expected.
If you are confused by what you’re looking at; that’s totally OK. The image above is basically a home baristas dream setup. I can make better coffee in my house than most specialty cafes. That’s not a flex; it’s just my passion. It’s also become a bit of a joke, as seen below.
More than a few people assumed that I was leaving the industry. I’m not! So why sell all of this world class gear?
It’s because I’ve already learned everything I can by using these machines for multiple years. Since the time I acquired them, new versions have been released. Companies are watching each other and we’re improving. I already evaluated multiple architectures and built knowledge. So now what?
I’m selling all of this gear because I have a student mentality. I have to keep testing, tasting, and seeing how the market is moving and shifting. None of this is sponsored. I do it because I love it, and there’s something to be learned every single day. Getting stagnant and comfortable is a recipe for failure.
I am a student of engineering, a student of coffee, and have no plans to stop. The next batches of equipment will start rolling in over the next weeks and months. More learning, more tasting, more trying to find ways to push the industry forward.
Cheers!
